Pop won "Stage Magician of the Year" in 1979, "Parlor Magician of the Year" in 1995 and 2002, and "Close-Up Magician of the Year" in 2003 and 2004. He was named "W.C. Fields Bar Magician of the Year" in 2005, an award that has only been given out twice in the history of the Magic Castle.

The Magic Castle is our private clubhouse. It is open to members and guests for dining seven evenings a week, and in the afternoons on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The Magic Castle has eleven or more magic acts performing each night in the many different showrooms.
The magician members select candidates each year for the best performances in each showroom, and then the entire membership votes on the nominees. These are extremely prestigious awards, and are presented at a gala show each year featuring many celebrities and Hollywood notables.

In 2003, Pop Haydn was working on a cruise ship in Alaska when he was first awarded "Close-Up Magician of the Year" by the Magic Castle. It was his third academy award. He had already won for Stage and Parlor.
The Close-Up Award is for performances of small sleight of hand magic in the Close-Up Gallery, an intimate show room for only twenty guests. Nancy Magill, Pop's wife, picked up the award for him.
The famous Irish Magician Billy McComb, the Vice-President of the Magic Castle, and Jason Alexander, an award-winning magician as well as an actor, were the presenters.
The wand is crafted by famous illusion builder Johnny Gaughn out of rose-wood and ebony with silver finishings.
